The trials and tribulations of the first time blogger

Regular readers will have realised that my plea for patience and understanding – in my opening post  – was based upon a prophetic instinct that told me we were in for some fun and games.

So far, we have had emails with links that don’t work, a navigation set-up that wouldn’t navigate, and a now you see it, now you don’t floating ‘Follow’ button.

“What fun!” I hear you cry, and “Could you repeat that in English?” The answer is “Not really” and “No,” not necessarily in that order.

Of course, what I really want to do is to spend a little time each day, pontificating, musing, sharing the fun things that go on here in Casa Murrell and environs, waxing poetic, etc. In practice, thus far, I have spent a very little time each day doing the stuff I want to do, and inordinate amounts of time clicking about in a totally alien environment, desperately trying to remember which browser tab contains the one vital piece of information I need, or at least the link to lead me to the Holy Gruel of understanding what I am doing. (I say Holy Gruel because I have missed meals whilst on my quest and am getting Very Hungry Indeed, and because the whole process is extremely gruelling.)

I have read countless bits of bumph, written in techno speak that have left my head spinning. I have explored the realms of FAQs and plumbed the depths of self-help forums. I have begged help of people who know what they are doing. Unfortunately, they don’t know what I am doing.

Anyway, the upshot is that I think I may just be able to see the carrot at the end of the tunnel. (See Does the Pope Sleep on his Back)

When I push the button to unleash this latest post upon the world, those who have subscribed should receive an email, telling them I have been sharing my angst, and giving them a link, which will lead to this post.

Of course, this may be wishful thinking, but should you happen to be one of my patient followers, and should you come upon this post via an email from the blog, please do let me know. You can do this by leaving a comment, but that might be another can of worms!

Those of you who have not signed up to follow El Perro might like to try the new ‘Subscribe’ facility, which is towards the bottom of the ‘Home’ page, on the right.

(Alternatively, if my latest tweak works, you might find a subscribe button below!)

    • So glad things seem to be settling down – I hated the idea of messing people about with a system that kept falling over. I’d like to see if I can get a subscribe button on every page, but not sure I feel quite strong enough!
