After the storm

Feeling a bit sad today. The pictures, I think, speak for themselves.

Not a very encouraging thing to see as soon as you step out of the door

Remains of the bamboo awning Geoff took hours to put up, lashed down with rope and chains to stop them flying off and decapitating someone

The awning has stripped the jasmine and is tangled up in the lemon tree

Plants have been slung about

The tomatoes have been blasted

I think this is what is left of the chilli plant pictured above

Not much left of the tall tomato plants, but the view is lovely

Scary stuff, but we are all in one piece, and will have it back looking lovely. It will just take time, patience and hard work.

    • Every year I think I should cut things back and be ruthless earlier in the season, but I don’t like to chop things down when they still look good. We really didn’t think the bamboo would come down like that. We’ll have to take down the wires that didn’t snap and roll what remains up until next spring, I think.
I’ll enjoy the work once I get into it, I’m sure.

      • Poor you. We got off lightly. 2 trees lost branches and the spider plant lost it’s pot when it fell but is still intact. Amazing that we are in one piece when you think that we live in a cravan half way up a mountain. The last major strorm. 5 years ago cast our first caravan over the edge. Luckily we were not in it.

  1. Oh what a shame! I know all the hard work that goes into your beautiful terrace garden. The plants will renew themselves I’m sure…it just seems such a waste. xx
